Day Three
We went off to the pet department in the local garden centre and found a box of parrot food, which we believe will give Charlie lots more of the nutrients he needs. On our return we crushed them down so they were easier for Charlie to handle and put them in his feeding device. I think he enjoyed the parrot food, and he's growing already. He seems to develop new feathers daily. I have researched how old Charlie might be and I've concluded around 16 days.
We have also put Charlie into a crate with a rolled up towel as a nest. He seems to like this. He gets really excited to see us when we come in to feed him. Charlie is a proper little character.

Day Two - Feeding and Name is Revealed
Day Two
After a lot more reading and a lot of trial and error we found out that our pigeon needed to be feed through a tube. We needed to find a way of replicating the way in which the pigeons mother would feed and this is by the baby placing his beak into his mother beak. We found out that by placing a finger of a rubber glove over the end of an icing syringe we would be able to do this. We started off by feeding him porridge oats mixed with water, but later in the afternoon went to Holland and Barrett and bought some finely ground wheat. This would give our pigeon some variety, the pigeon is also now named 'Charlie' as we don't know the pigeons gender, and its suits a boy or a girl. As you can see he gets a little scruffy after feeding, so we gently wash him down with a warm, damp flannel. Charlie is such a lovely bird with a really sweet character.

Day One - How we found the bird
Yesterday I found a bird next to a tree because it had fallen out of it's nest. I picked it up and took it home. We put it in a box and tried to feed it. It didn't eat anything. We think that it is not eating because of stress. This morning I came in and it was squeaking and flapping so we will try again with the food soon. We think the bird is a Wood Pigeon. Here is a picture. See what you think!
